Iyengar yoga is characterised by great attention to detail and precise alignment of the postures. Through the regular practice of Iyengar yoga your body will become more balanced, strong and supple.
The Teachers
All teachers here at the yoga centre are fully certificated and members of the BKS Iyengar Yoga Association of Australia.
The Centre
The yoga centre has a friendly atmosphere and is welcoming to all, we are one of the longest running schools in Australia having been in the area for over 20 years, we are centrally located for convenience. Our student base ranges from teenagers to seniors, our classes are set up to cater for the stiffest student to the most flexible.
Iyengar yoga has far reaching benenfits for all.
What to Wear
Loose comfortable clothing: shorts T-shirt, footless tights .
NB: High cut shorts are not appropriate unless you wear bike shorts underneath.
Food
It is best not to have eaten a heavy meal within 3 hours prior to class, a light snack 1 hour before is fine. You will feel much better if you follow these guidelines
Illness-Injuries
In certain cases some poses are contra-indicated, so please inform your teacher before class if you are unwell or if you are menstruating or pregnant. If you are experiencing any kind of pain eg: back, neck, knee pain etc High blood pressure or any other health concerns
The Director
Christine Barnes is the director of the yoga centre. She has been teaching and practicing Iyengar yoga for over 32 years and is a fully qualified senior teacher.
Christine is a teacher trainer and has trained many teachers over the years.
